Technical characteristics

The communal areas of the Council of Lignano Sabbiadoro are totally equipped with a lighting system of the highest level. Both for residential areas and secondary roads, illumining bodies with symmetrical optics assure the same technical lighting system characteristics of those used in roads with a high level of circulation, street optical (asymmetric).

For a better homogeneity and look of buildings and aiming to reduce the cost of assistance and maintenance it has been attempted, as much as possible, to reduce the number of the illumining bodies.

The new street armatures are equipped with a highly efficient lighting system
. By means of the adjustable door lamp it is possible to obtain precise direction of the light beam. This together with the materials used in the installation phase of the lampposts allow an obvious reduction in the spread of the light beam and reduction of the same, in the direction of the sky. The system therefore complies with the international legislative directives of DARKSKY. The basic platform for the attainment of photometric power and reduced costs of maintenance is the permeability of illumining bodies throughout the duration of the lamps life.

All the street armatures are of the class II type, with the feed section located in the aperture of the optical space.

Thanks to the combined use of the new types of lamps and digitalization, the system succeeds in reducing energy consumption up to a total percentage of around 30% thus maintaining almost unchanged the afferent values, the average levels of light and parameters comprised between 1 and 2 cd/m2. The improvement to the level of the lighting system translates into greater safety for city traffic together with an efficient system of prevention against crime. In the choice of bearing structures, particular attention has been placed on "flexibility". The poles must, with their architectural design, be able to be integrated into the context of city buildings and, from an electrical point of view, must possess the characteristics of multifunctionality: for example they must be able to be of support to the Christmas lighting system or be able to support an easy and safe preparation for additional distribution of current for different events.

In agreement with the programmed systematization of various types of road feed usage, all distribution panels have already been restructured and equipped with ANDROS remote control devices for the optimization of operating systems. Moreover we are proceeding with the equipping of 7000 light points for Lignano Sabbiadoro Council, with regard to their restructuring program, with SYRA-P devices for the control and regulation of flow in a digital way (through bi-state modality) of each single luminous point. All information and means of control are managed through a centre (IOS management server) situated near the Electricians Warehouse, thanks to the Minos System and to data transmission via GSM, personalized SMS can be sent directly to the staff on duty. In this way it is possible to respond to signals recorded by the system in real time so as to optimize and supply a continuously better quality of service. Detailed information on the entire system can come from either several distribution units or from single lamps through network cables, allowing aimed assistance with an immediate lowering of maintenance costs. All various malfunctioning and anomalies are communicated and protocolled by the MINOS System without margin of error.

The integrated astronomical clock in the managerial software allows exact functioning and precise disconnection of the lighting system so as to optimize energy consumption. Through the programmable lowering of the luminous intensity during nocturnal hours and the function of the grouping of light points it is possible to set the entire lighting system based on several requirements. The light points of a section of road can be singularly connected to a group and for a determined interval of time, when as for example the traffic is less intense, use reduced intensity.

After which it is possible to modify the newly previously programmed settings; when for example it is necessary to re-adapt the parameters of utilization of the lighting system for varied requirements for example: an increment in the circulation of vehicles.

N.B. The system of remote control allows, besides all the relative signals of malfunctioning switchboards and lamps, to timely signal any interventions for the protection of the feed of auxiliary circuits used for particular events and occasions.

With the integration of the SYRA- P control module, the light bulb is "engineered" and is able to supply in an independent way, information on its condition and to plan timely reductions of the luminous flow.

" Minos system has enabled us to reduce consumption costs, relative to both electric power absorption and maintenance - says Gianluca Muscolo responsible for maintaining the public lighting system - This is however experimental data, given the fact that the present installation is of only 3 cabinets out of a total of 47. The best results however, were obtained by the signalling of breakdowns, which proved to be extremely effective, mainly concerning street safety in the event of accident.
In a short period, as a successive step, we will be equipping ourselves with a digitalized cartographic system that will allow us to have a further visual supportive report. Moreover in the course of 2003 we will be installing and putting into service another 15 feed cabinets, only then will it be possible to get more precise and reliable data regarding the real advantages in economic terms of the adopted system, which remains in any case without doubt the most valid currently on the market".
